Indias COVID-19 vaccination drive will begin on January 16, stated the government Saturday evening. The Prime Minister called it a landmark step forward in the fight against COVID-19.
Priority in vaccination will be given to nearly one crore healthcare workers and two crore frontline staff, including doctors, community health workers and police. The vaccine will be given free of cost for this group, stated Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.The next group to receive the vaccine will be those over 50 years of age, followed by those under 50 but with co-morbidities.
